By Jerry Poore, Owner, I-80 Trailers

Before you buy, ask yourself:

  1. What am I hauling most often?
  2. What is the heaviest load I expect to carry?
  3. How often will I tow?
  4. Will the trailer be stored inside or outside?
  5. Will I use it in winter, road salt, mud, or wet conditions?
  6. Is lower upfront cost or lower long-term maintenance more important?
  7. Will this trailer be used for light-duty, commercial, or heavy-duty work?
  8. What is my tow vehicle rated to handle?
  9. What GVWR do I need?
  10. What is the empty trailer weight?
  11. How much actual payload capacity do I need?
  12. Will my needs change in the next year or two?

The right trailer is not just about what you haul today.

It is about what the trailer needs to keep doing after the first season.
